5 Strand

Demolition

This page will keep you up to date with the progression of demolishing the residual structure of 5 Strand, to make way for our proposal for a new hub by Premier Inn.

Next Steps

On the 27th May, the demolition plant was installed onto the top of the residual structure. Thank you for your patience with the road closure for this, this work was necessary for the next stage of demolition, to allow for significant improvements on site.
The intention is to demolish the residual structure currently occupying the site to the ground floor level, except for the bridge over Corner House Street. Once this work is complete it will enable the scaffolding on The Strand and Craven Street to be removed, improving the streetscape and safety and security around the site.
The work is scheduled to commence towards the end of June and we expect the works to last c.12 weeks. We will update you closer to the time confirming exact start dates as this is subject to confirmation on a few matters from Westminster City Council.
